My name is John Hamilton and I have been a member of Wycliffe Bible Translators since July 1988 – first, with my wife Ruth, as teachers of missionary children at Vavoua International School in Ivory Coast for 8 years and latterly working with Wycliffe Bible Translators UK and Ireland. I was Mobilisation Director for Wycliffe UK for almost 5 years from June 2005 to March 2010. Following that I was Wycliffe N. Ireland Coordinator for some years heading up the Church Engagement team relating to churches in Ireland. I had a spell as Acting NI Team Leader for the NI Church Engagement team until we recruited a new leader Ricky Ferguson who took over in June 2015. I have remained a member of Ricky’s team until 31 December 2016 when Ruth and I officially retired from Wycliffe.
The name of my blog is inspired by the fact that for years I’ve been trying to apply Jesus’ words in John 20v21 to my life and also to my work as part of various teams recruiting people to join Wycliffe UK and Ireland: “As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
I am passionate about our organisational vision: “By 2025, together with partners worldwide, we aim to see a Bible translation programme begun in every language that needs one.”
Great to see you have taken the plunge and started this off. Great start. We did the same 10 days ago so will learn along with you.
Hi John! I think that our paths crossed a long time ago in Massy. Found your site by “chance”. Regards to all the family.
You probably mean the other John Hamilton from N. Ireland with WEC. I never made it to Massy.
Sorry,
JOhn
