It’s almost that time of year. Well, we’ll need to celebrate Christmas first of course, but many Christians, young and older, students or GAPpers, early retired or really retired… will soon be thinking about a short term mission trip.
That’s how I started a blog on 15 December 2016 entitled Looking for a Short-Term Mission trip this coming summer?

Well, now it’s time. Christmas is over: we have celebrated the turning point of history when God the Father translated himself from divine into human in the person of God the Son. Now a new year stretches ahead for us all to be where God wants us to be… making disciples.
If you are looking for a short term mission experience this coming summer – look no further! The South of France, two weeks in July: what’s not to like? It’s Two Week Stint.
Wycliffe Global Alliance has published an article promoting Two Week Stint.
Nestled alongside the Rhône River with stunning views of the foothills of the French Alps, Charmes-sur-Rhône [see photo above] grasps the true essence of Southern France. Eighteen students have come to this small town to enjoy the abundance of sunshine, the large selection of bread and cheese, and the opportunity to explore age-old questions like: “What am I going to do with my life?” and “What does God want me to do with my life?”
Wycliffe Bible Translators UK & Ireland and Wycliffe France have partnered together to help young people across Europe consider these questions in light of the many ministry opportunities within the world of Bible translation.
The Two Week Stint is a two-week camp conducted in French and English that is ideal for university students and recent graduates, aged 18 and older. It is designed to help them think beyond the borders of their home countries and explore how God could use their skills and passions to fulfill His mission.
“It’s an opportunity in a quiet, safe environment to make little experiences and little steps to move forward toward mission or not,” says Karine Berndt, director of Wycliffe France.

“It gives [participants] more of an idea of what Wycliffe’s work is all about, but also gives them an experience of being in a cross-cultural situation with different nationalities [and languages]. They also study a bit more about what the Church’s role is in mission… and reflect on what God might be calling them to do and what their role in God’s mission is,” Maggie Gaved, Wycliffe UK & Ireland’s associate director of church engagement.
Beth Higgins, a Two Week Stint participant from England, is a university student studying German and linguistics. She appreciates that the program focuses on many of the topics that she is learning about in her classes.
“We’ve talked about stuff I’ve been studying,” shares Beth, “and how that applies in real life, not just concepts, but actually applying it, which is really interesting to me.”
Caitlin Hamilton from N. Ireland and studying languages at Queen’s University, Belfast, was also at Two Week Stint in 2016 and she wrote a blog for me about her experiences.
